Get Your Swimwear Summer-Ready: The Ultimate Guide to Hand Washing!

Summer is here, and it’s time to hit the beach! But before you do that, you need to make sure your swimwear is clean and ready for use. While some people prefer to toss their swimsuits in the washing machine, hand washing them is a more gentle option that will help extend their lifespan.

So let’s get started on how to hand wash swimwear!

First off, fill a sink or basin with cool water – not hot water as this can damage the fabric of your swimsuit. Add a mild detergent or a specialized swimwear cleaner into the water and mix it well. Make sure you choose a gentle detergent that won’t harm delicate fabrics such as spandex or nylon.

Next, turn your swimsuit inside out and place it in the soapy water. Gently agitate it around in the mixture for about two minutes. Don’t scrub too hard as this can cause any embellishments on your suit to loosen or even fall off.

After two minutes have passed, drain the soapy water from your basin or sink and rinse your swimsuit thoroughly with cool running water until all traces of soap are gone. If there are still suds left after rinsing once, keep rinsing until they’re completely washed away.

Once done rinsing, gently squeeze out excess moisture from your suit but don’t wring it out as this can deform its shape. Instead, lay it flat on an absorbent towel and roll up both sides tightly like sushi rolls; this will help remove more moisture without damaging delicate fibers.

After rolling up your suit for several minutes like sushi rolls (or pressing down lightly with another absorbent towel), hang it up to dry in a shady spot where there’s good air circulation but avoid direct sunlight which can fade colors faster than usual.

When drying outdoors is impossible due to weather conditions or lack of space indoors then opt for using a fan instead – just ensure proper ventilation around where you hang your swimsuit.

Avoid using a clothes dryer as the heat can damage and shrink delicate fibers. If you must use a dryer, be sure to choose the low-heat setting and place your suit in a lingerie bag before adding it to the machine.

Finally, store your swimwear properly when not in use. Don’t fold or cram it into tight spaces as this can cause creasing or deformities on its shape. Instead, try hanging it up on hangers with padded clips or lay them flat in drawers separated by tissue paper if you don’t have enough space for hanging storage.

In conclusion, hand washing your swimwear is an essential step to keep them looking great throughout the summer season – and beyond! By following these simple steps outlined above and taking proper care of your favorite swimsuits, they’ll last longer than ever before!
